Matthew.BallPianist Matthew Ball, aka “The Boogie Woogie Kid”, will by stopping by the Civic Center Library on January 22.  Described as “one of Michigan’s premier blues & boogie-woogie pianists”, he has performed in jazz festivals and symphonies throughout the Midwest and Canada.  You may even have heard him on NPR recently.  Remarkably, Ball’s start in Jazz only began in 2001 after he attended a hometown boogie-woogie festival.  He was so awestruck by the performances he saw that night, he left his career as an attorney to become a blues & boogie-woogie performing artist.

Matthew will present his family-friendly program of piano fun from the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s.  We will hear favorites like Swanee River, Over the Rainbow, In the Mood, and Bumble Boogie.  Don’t miss this entertaining evening!

This event will take place in the conference room outside of the Civic Center Library. To register, call 586.574.4564.
