Wednesday, September 7, 6 pm, Warren Civic Center Library
We are happy to welcome Wayne State University professor and writer Jack Lessenberry to the Civic Center Library. Perhaps you’ve heard Mr. Lessenberry’s reports on Michigan Public Radio or read his columns in the Metro Times. He will be speaking about his recent 2106 Michigan Notable Book, The People’s Lawyer: The Life and Times of Frank J. Kelley.
The People’s Lawyer is the biography of Frank Kelley, who in 1961 at the age of 37 became the state of Michigan’s youngest attorney general. During his 37 year career he worked with John and Bobby Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Carl Levin, and Jennifer Granholm. One of the leaders of the Michigan Democrat Party, Mr. Kelley was instrumental in establishing the first Office of Consumer Protection in the country, helping to end racially restrictive real estate practices, and initiating the multibillion-dollar Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement in 1998.
Join us to learn more about Frank Kelley and meet author Jack Lessenberry! Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
