We’re pleased to announce a new resource on the library’s website — the Community Services page under Research >> Recommended Websites. This page includes a wide range of local resources for assistance and human services for all residents of Warren, including seniors, veterans, homeless and residents with special needs. The services covered range from education, financial assistance, chore assistance and emergency food to tax help and transportation. There is also a section for volunteer opportunities in the community.

Are you interested in downloading free eAudiobooks this summer? Now you can, thanks to audiobook publisher’s and AudioFile Magazine’s SYNC campaign.

The goal of the SYNC campaign is to get more young adults listening to audiobooks.  Each week from June 14 – August 22, 2012, SYNC will offer two free audiobook downloads. The audiobook pairings will include a popular YA title and a classic that connects with the YA title’s theme and is likely to show up on a student’s summer reading lists. For example, Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone, the first book in a new series about a girl who opens a door to two otherworldly cities at war, will be paired with Charles Dicken’s A Tale of Two Cities.

These items are free to download and keep, and can be listened to on a computer or transferred to many popular portable devices. SYNC eAudiobooks are downloaded using OverDrive Media Console, available here.

To get started with SYNC and for a list of this year’s titles, click here, or text syncya to 25827 to find out when titles become available.

Happy listening!
