With the library being closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we know that many residents may want to use library resources from home, but can’t because they may not have a library card. If you don’t already have a library card, now you can get one easily thanks to our new virtual card service!

Virtual cards will allow temporary access to some of our most popular online eResources, including OverDrive, Freegal, RBdigital magazines and eAudiobooks, and databases.

When the library reopens stop by the circulation desk of any Warren Public Library location and fill out an application for a permanent library card that will allow access to other eResources like Hoopla as well as physical library items.

Sign up here for a virtual library card! For more information, visit our “Apply For A Library Card” page.

One of the most popular databases at the Warren Public Library is Ancestry Library Edition. This genealogical database is used by many to look up census records from 1790-1940 , draft cards, ship passenger lists, and much more.

This database was only available for in-library use, but due to the unprecedented shut down of libraries across the state, Ancestry is offering remote access to Warren Public Library cardholders for a limited time, from now through December 31, 2021. Follow the steps below to access Ancestry Library Edition from home.

1. Visit our online library catalog by using the Library Catalog & Account link .

2. When you visit our catalog, check the upper-right portion of the screen. If logged in, you will see your name. If not, click Log In.

3. After logging in, the Ancestry link will be revealed. Click the Ancestry – Remote Access Link at the top of the left-hand box to access Ancestry Library Edition.

That’s all there is to it! Happy searching!
