Search the complete U.S. federal census (1790-1940) in the library or at home. Also covered will be tips and tricks for beginners, the Ancestry Library Edition database, and valuable free websites that will jump-start your search into your family’s past.

In 2009 at age 23, Drew Philp bought an abandoned  house in Detroit for $500. Arriving with no job, no friends, and no money, his memoir,  A $500 House in Detroit describes his time rehabbing his house from foundation to roof.

A $500 House in Detroit is “a standout” according to Kirkus Reviews.  Library Journal said it is “highly recommended” and  Publisher’s Weekly called it “an impassioned memoir”.

This interactive program combines performance with a “hands on” opportunity for people who want to experience a hammered dulcimer up close and personal. You will get to hear, to touch, and even to play a hammered dulcimer. All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
