Ever play the board game Mouse Trap? That’s a type of Rube Goldberg Machine!

To celebrate the end of summer reading, teens are welcome to join us at the Warren Public Library’s Summer Finale Lock-in at the Miller Branch to build one themselves. Teens will have free run of the library after hours to build Rube Goldberg-like chain reaction machines with items provided by Thumble Makerspace. They will supply tubes, tracks, Q-Ba Maze marble run, and their box of bots & props to help create amazing contraptions that will do…something!

Ages 12-17. This is a parent-free, after hours event. Pizza, pop, and snacks will be served.

Teens and Tweens can join us to celebrate Teen Tech Week March 6-11, with these great events:

Bristle Bot Racing • Tuesday, March 7, 6:30 pm, Arthur Miller Library

Come out to the Miller Library to build mini bots on the head of a toothbrush! Construct your bot, decorate it and then race yours against the other bristle bots.

For ages 10-14, teens 15-17 welcome, too.

Techy Things! • Thursday, March 9, 6:00 pm, Civic Center Library

Note (3-9-17): Due to Civic Center Library’s closure due to power failure, this program is cancelled.

Stop by the Civic Center Library for some techy, hands-on fun, including playing with the cool circuitry of a Makey Makey and littleBits!

Is winter bringing you down? Tweens and teens can join us for a few fun-in-the-sun activities at this beach party lock-in! We’ll have free run of the library to play summer games, beach volleyball, build “sand” castles, and snack on popcicles and sunny cupcakes to help forget about winter for a while.

Thursdays, October 27-November 17, 6:30 pm, Arthur Miller Library

Explorewriting poetry through reading, writing, and editing with poet Lisa Folkmire. During this four week workshop, participants will read poets from around the world, such as Margaret Atwood, Rumi, Wiswala Szymborska, and Zbigniew Herbert, generate new poetry, and work on the editing process.

Workshop will be held in Meeting Room 415 in the Warren Community Center, down the hall from the Miller Library.

double-downCalling all “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” fans! Double Down, the eleventh in Jeff Kinney’s series, will be released on Tuesday, November 1.

To celebrate, children ages 6-11 are invited to join us at the Miller Library to test their Greg Heffley knowledge, have some Wimpy Kid fun, and get entered to win a copy of the book.
