Hygge Cozy Evening at the Library

Take a step back before all the holiday chaos begins with a calming Danish style “Hygge” evening of warm and cozy activities at the Burnette Branch Library.

Stop by and enjoy the library’s “fireplace”, candle light, board games, hot cocoa and tea, and great conversations. Feel free to bring your own throw blanket or any handicraft projects you are currently working on and anyone who knows how to sew can use library supplies to hand sew a DIY handwarmer or two.

Burnette Library Garden Club

Join other garden enthusiasts and wannabe enthusiasts to plant and tend to the raised garden beds behind the Burnette Library.

No experience is needed. Weather permitting. We also recommend bringing a pair of gloves, a water bottle, and a hat or sunglasses.

Meeting Dates will be Wednesdays:
May 22, 10:00 am – Planting Day
June 26, 9:30 am – Weeding & Maintenance
July 17, 9:30 am – Weeding & Maintenance
August 21, 9:30 am – Weeding & Maintenance

The Burnette Garden Club welcomes members of all ages, however, we do suggest children be at least 5 years old to participate. Garden club meets outside behind the library at the garden beds.

Social Security with Lakeshore Legal Aid

Join Akisha Johnson, Litigation Director at Lakeshore Legal Aid, for an informational presentation on Social Security (SSD/SSI). Topics of discussion will include an overview of Social Security and eligibility requirements, the application process, appealing a denial, and tips for navigating common challenges.

Is trying to get a book read by a certain deadline stressing you out? Join us for a No-Pressure Book Club instead!

There is no required reading in the book club alternative. Come for a friendly atmosphere, a little coffee or tea, and you only need to be ready discuss your favorite books, magazines, short stories, blogs, or podcasts.

Fiber Arts Meetup

Join other fiber arts enthusiasts for a casual evening of fun and conversation. Bring your own project and supplies. Anyone who knits, crochets, felts, or creates with any other type of fiber art is welcome to attend.

Adults and teens ages 16+ only. There will be no instruction, projects, or supplies provided.
