Author Scott Lasser will be visiting the Warren Public Library’s Civic Center Library on Monday, October 15 at 6 p.m. to discuss his latest novel, Say Nice Things About Detroit.
Say Nice Things About Detroit, Lasser’s 4th novel, is a compelling story of a man who comes back to Detroit to solve a mystery from long ago who tries to answer one simple question: if you want to go home again, what do you do if home is Detroit? Publisher’s Weekly, in a starred review, says “Lasser composes his sympathetic cast into tableaux that are meaningful, even emblematic, but that, even when highly dramatic, aren’t forced. His restrained portrait of Detroit evokes real pathos“. The Wall Street Journal call it “poignant”. The San Francisco Chronicle calls it “Undeniably compelling…a bit of a “Made in Detroit” mash-up: an Elmore Leonard novel as it might be rewritten by the poet Philip Levine, suspenseful and bitterly melancholic all at once“. Elmore Leonard himself says “you’ll love Scott Lasser’s style“.
Don’t miss your chance to listen to and meet Scott Lasser! This event will take place in the Conference Room outside of the Civic Center Library. Books will be available to be purchased and signed at this event. To register, call 586.574.4564.
