To apply for a Library card, bring a completed Library card application and a valid Michigan Driver’s License or State ID with your current address on it to the Circulation desk at any Warren Public Library. You can print a copy of the Library card application and view a list of who is eligible for a card here.

How can I access my Library account?

You can access your Library account online.

To access your account online, enter your library card information in the My Account box off our website (on PCs, this is found on the right-hand side). This will take you into our catalog where you you can check your account, search for items, place items on hold, and renew items. Alternately, you can access our catalog directly and click Log In to access your account.

How can I renew items?

Items can be renewed online or by calling a Warren Public Library branch. For online renewals, log into your account using the steps above. Click ‘Renew My Materials’. Select which items you wish to renew then click ‘Renew Selected Items’. If you wish to renew all items you have out, select ‘Renew All’ and then click ‘Renew Selected Items’.

You can also renew items by calling a branch of the Warren Public Library during their open hours and talking to a staff member. Library contact information can be found here.

Can I check out items from other libraries?

With your Warren Public Library card, you can check out materials from the following libraries: Armada Free Public Library, Center Line Public Library, Chesterfield Township Library, *Clinton-Macomb Library, Eastpointe Memorial Library, Fraser Public Library, Harper Woods Public Library, *Harrison Township Library, Lenox Township Library, MacDonald Public Library (New Baltimore), Mount Clemens Public Library, Ray Township Public Library, Richmond Public Library, Romeo District Library, Roseville Public Library, St. Clair Shore Public Library, Shelby Township Library, Sterling Heights Public Library, *Troy Public Library, Utica Public Library.

*You must apply for a separate Clinton-Macomb, *Harrison Township,  or Troy library card to use these libraries.

If after searching our catalog you do not find what you are looking for, you can use MeLCat to search holdings of libraries throughout Michigan. Items can be requested through MeLCat to be sent to the Warren Public Library for pickup. MeLCat access is only available to Warren residents.

How can I place holds on items from home?

You can search the Warren Public Library catalog by using the ‘Search our catalog’ search box in the top-left corner of our homepage. Select which Library’s holdings you wish to search, enter your search terms, and select a search option (title, author, series, etc…) This will take you into our catalog. When you find an item you like to place on hold, click on the ‘Place Hold’ link on the left side of the item’s record. If you have not logged in, enter your Library card number in the User ID box and PIN where indicated. Select the library where you wish to pick up your hold. Click Place Hold. You will be notified by either phone, email, or text message depending on the preference you selected when you applied for your Library card, when your hold is available for pickup. [updated 8.17.15]

Why is my account blocked when I try to place a hold?

Library card accounts are blocked when a person has over five items currently overdue or more than $5 in fees. A payment to bring the fees under $5 will eliminate the block. Holds, renewals, and checkouts will not be able to take place until the block on the account is resolved.

I can’t remember my PIN. Can you give it to me?

If you do not remember your PIN, you will need to come to the circulation desk of any Warren Public Library branch with your Warren Library card and identification. Staff members will be able to reset your PIN. PINs will never be given out over the phone.

What should I do if I lose my card?

Please report your lost or stolen library card immediately. Until you do so, you are responsible for all materials borrowed with your card and any resulting fines or charges.

To replace a lost card, please come to the Circulation desk of any Warren Public Library branch. A staff member will assist you with a new card. There is a $2 fee for lost cards. [updated 9.21.18]

How do I sign up for Library programs or events?

To see our programs visit our online event calendar. To sign up for Library programs call the phone number listed with the event’s description. You can search for specific department events by using the Event Type filter to the left of the calendar. You can register for an event online if the title of the event is underlined on our events calendar. [updated 8.17.15]

Do you have computers with Internet and Microsoft Office?

All Warren Public Libraries have computers with Internet access and Microsoft Office available for use by the public. The number of computers available varies by branch.

Computer use is free to Warren Public Library cardholders and to cardholders of libraries in the Suburban Library Cooperative. You must have your library card to use library computers. If you do not have a Library card and wish to use Library computers, you can purchase a computer guest pass for $2.

Can I fax and scan documents at the Library?

All branches have fax and scanning capabilities. Faxes and scanned documents cost $1.00 for the first page, and $.25 for each additional page. The Library does not provide cover sheets. [updated 8.17.15]

How do I sign up for a study room?

Study rooms are available at the Civic Center Library and Dorothy Busch Branch Library.

Meeting Room Application

The Civic Center Library has 3 study rooms that can be reserved. Reservations for library study rooms will be taken Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 4:45 pm. Call 586.574.4564 to reserve a room. Same day reservations are not allowed.

The Dorothy Busch Branch Library has 2 rooms that can be reserved. Reservations for library study will be taken Monday through Friday during the Busch Branch’s hours. Call 586.353.0580 to reserve a room. Same day reservations are not allowed.

For reservations on Saturday and Monday, please call the Friday before.

Does the library have devices for those with mobility issues?

Motorized wheelchairs/scooters are available at the Civic Center Library and the Arthur Miller Branch Library for use within the library itself and for use throughout the respective buildings that house the library (City Hall for the Civic Center Library, Community Center for the Arthur Miller Branch Library). Can I have an examination proctored at the Library?

Exams can be proctored only at the Civic Center Library. There is a $25.00 charge for each exam that is proctored. To schedule a proctored exam, please call 586.751.0770.

Does the Library have tax forms?

During tax season all branches of the Warren Public Library will have printed copies of the most common tax forms available for pickup.

Does the Library sell used books?

The Friends of the Warren Public Library have a limited selection of used books and other items available for sale at the Civic Center Library, Arthur Miller Branch, and Dorothy Busch Branch.

The Friends also sponsor monthly book sales. These book sales are held at the Old Village Hall located at 5961 Beebe Street (east of Mound and north of 13 Mile) in Warren. For more information about these sales, click here.

Does the library offer notary services?

Notary services are available at all branches. Notary services are free for those that have a valid Warren library card  and $5.00 per document for all other patrons, with a maximum charge of $20.00 for 4 or more documents. (Approved Warren Library Commission 11-21-13) [updated 6.3.16]

Donations are currently not being accepted at Warren Public Library locations. Items can be donated to the Friends of the Warren Public Library bookstore. For the location and hours of the Friends bookstore please see https://www.warrenlibrary.net/book-sales-and-donations/. Materials are sold through the Friends of the Warren Public Library booksales and are used to support programs and activities of the Library.
